I used my father’s money to pay for his plane ticket, and three years later, he arrived and did this to me

A Ghanaian lady has taken to a social media platform to share her current ordeal and asked for advice from relationship experts and media users. below is her story.

My boyfriend and I dated from elementary school to university. Our bond was so strong that we were almost compelled to make a blood covenant.

When we weren’t even thinking about it, our parents decided to let us marry. For most of the high school, we were a team of 2. Our teachers and most students knew we existed.

We finished the second cycle and met at tertiary as planned. My boyfriend was so smart and charismatic that he was elected SRC President (SRC). Many people adored him, and I admit I was envious when I saw him talk to women.

He assured me he was only looking at me.

During our tertiary years, we shared a rented apartment near the school. I didn’t want to lose him. During our senior year, he told me he planned to leave the country for better economic opportunities.

I agreed with him because he said he would return to marry me after settling down.

I took him at his word. He was ready to fly. He couldn’t afford his travel expenses. Time was not on his side given his departure date from Ghana. There was no sign of hope. Except for plane tickets, he was ready.

Nobody would help us get it. Every Friday, my father, a wealthy man, brought huge sums of money home. I couldn’t bear to see him miss out on the chance to travel abroad, so I gave him GHC 12,000 from my father’s money to pay for his plane ticket and kept the rest for his stay.

My father discovered his missing funds after he left. I was honest. My strict father called the cops and arrested me. After a few days in jail, he came to bail me out on his own. He couldn’t see his only daughter go.

It’s been 3 years. My boyfriend was doing well in America. We talked on the phone almost every week for the first two years. Things were fine before he arrived in Ghana and started acting as if he had never met me.

He didn’t even call me to say he was in Ghana. A friend tipped me off.

In short, he has ignored all my efforts to help him succeed and is now marrying another girl he loves.

She may have come with him from the States, as he had no girlfriend in Ghana. Then he told me he would refund my money with interest, which I didn’t understand. After all the pain I’ve endured, he’s chosen to punish me. What do I do now? Please help me, I’m going insane.
