“I sold second clothes to help my family when I was young”- Obaapa Christy narrates her hard life story.
During an interview on Friday, gospel vocalist Obaapa Christy shared the tale of how she came from very poor beginnings in order to encourage others who look up to her.
She explained to Nana Romeo of Accra FM that despite the fact that she is in a very fortunate position in life at the moment, things have not always been this way for her.
She claims that in the past, in order to make ends meet after school, she would sell a lot of secondhand clothing. This was due to the fact that circumstances at home were not particularly financially secure.
Obaapa Christy revealed that her father was a simple cobbler or shoemaker in Ghana when she was growing up. In Ghana, the term “shoemaker” is more common.
On the other hand, her mother was involved in the selling of anything and everything that she could get her hands on, provided that the item in question did not violate any laws.
Obaapa Christy went on to say that despite all of these financial difficulties that her family had been facing, God chose her to be the one person who would alter the narrative of her family from one that was considered to be poor by everyone to one that is doing pretty well financially.
