“I have not retired yet, i just have to slim down a bit”- Asamoah Gyan

Former Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan stated in a recent interview that he has not retired from football and that he still has a lot to contribute on the field.

Gyan hasn’t played for the Black Stars since representing his country at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

He is also unemployed at the age of 36, having parted ways with Ghana Premier League club Legon Cities the previous season.

Gyan indicated that he has not retired while appearing as an analyst on SuperSport TV, but that he must lose weight before resuming full engagement in football.

“I haven’t yet quit from my job.” Before I can come back, I need to lose weight and get more active, and he needs to train consistently week after week.

My physical look is still in good shape, and I still have a lot to contribute intellectually and socially. Everything appears to be in line in terms of IQ and physical readiness, but I do not believe I am physically prepared at this time. “I need to work on getting in better shape.”

Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan, with 51 goals in a professional international career spanning over a decade and a half.

Gyan is presently working as a football analyst for SuperSport for the ongoing African Football Confederation (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.
