Bernard Musyoki, a Kitui (town in Kenya) resident who is happily married to a white woman twice his age, has claimed that their love is genuine, not manufactured, as many assume.
Musyoki fell in love with Deborah Jan Spicer, 70, after meeting her on Facebook in 2017. “I sent her a friend request, after a week, I asked her to marry me and she accepted. We even exchanged vows inbox,” he recalled during an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, a popular Kenyan website.
In 2018, the 35-year-old intended to fly to the United States to meet his love but was refused a visa and was refused the second time last year, 2020. “In March 2020, I applied for a visa again, did an interview but I was denied a visa,” he said.
They kept in touch, and on December 29, 2020, Deborah decided to visit Kenya to meet her charming Bernard. They traveled to Kitui, where he resides. Musyoki disclosed that Deborah’s parents are late, and he negotiated for dowry payment with her and her children.
“They said they wanted only N409.89 and told me to take it to church as an offering and she said that’s my dowry,” He said in the Kenyan language.
The Kenyan guy stated that he and his bride resolved to remain pure till marriage. “We used to sleep in separate rooms and made promises to each other to remain pure until our vows were exchanged. We had someone who used to reside with us at the house”
On February 2, 2021, the two lovebirds exchanged nuptials at Sheria House in front of strangers.’ He stated that the cost of his wedding ring was less than KSh 100. (N362.33).
“I bought a ring worth KSh 50 (N181.17)for my wedding and my wife used the one she had. She told me she didn’t mind the fact that I got a cheap ring saying what mattered to her was me, her prince charming,” Musyoki explained.
The Kenyan man revealed that Deborah’s children are also older than him and they relate well.
