“I Forced The Door To Open And I Escaped”: Woman Speaks After Escaping Death On Weija-Kasoa Road
The incident occurred on the Weija-Kasoa stretch on Saturday morning, February 12, 2022, after the occupant of a saloon car with registration number GE 6870-12, which was heading from McCarthy Hill to Kasoa, was hit by a trailer with registration number GT 8497-07, and the logs onboard of the trailer fell on the saloon car, destroying parts of it.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer crashed after attempting to swerve a vehicle ahead of it after the police signaled it to stop.
The unfortunate incident caused significant traffic congestion on the Teteku section of the Malam junction to the Kasoa highway.
Derrick Turkson, an eyewitness, told us about the incident: “There was a police officer on the road stopping vehicles to allow pedestrians to cross, but then I noticed that the long vehicle was approaching at high speed, with a Zoomlion car in front of it and a saloon car behind it.
As a result, he had no choice but to turn the car onto the pavement in order to save the lives of those nearby. Actually, it was the officer’s fault because the trailer was speeding and couldn’t stop. So, in general, the driver performed admirably.”
Gifty Illow, the victim, stated that there should be no traffic lights on.
