Yaqub Ganiyu, a Nigerian man, has described how he collapsed twice after his wife, Muridia, whom he has been with for 17 years, informed him that their 14-year-old daughter is not his.
Yaqub, a commercial biker from Lagos state, told Vanguard that he is still coming to grips with the truth of his wife’s revelation. When his wife revealed the news to him, he fainted twice, he claims.
The father of four, speaking in his one-room flat on Matomi Street in Alagbado, a border town between Lagos and Ogun states, claimed his wife informed him that their daughter’s father is a neighbor who has migrated to Germany.
“I met Muridia while she was an apprentice 17 years ago. I provided her with financial assistance until she acquired the talent. Following that, we began dating and lived together. I moved her from Otu Village in Oyo State to Lagos to start a company for her.
We have four children, a girl and three sons, ages 14, 8, and four years and three months.
Things were going well in the household at first while I was working as a truck driver. I eventually lost that job. To put food on the table, I began riding a motorcycle.
I recently realized that my wife was acting suspiciously. I remained quiet in order to enable peace to rule till she returned home with a Tecno-5 phone. When I inquired where she obtained it, she gave me a poor explanation. I also observed she was talking to a man whose identity I didn’t know. I had no choice except to grasp the phone.
She woke me up at midnight about a month ago and informed me that I was not the biological father of our 14-year-old daughter. She claims her ex-boyfriend, who lives in Germany, is the child’s biological father. You won’t believe it when I tell you that this same man and I were neighbors before he went abroad.
I fainted twice as a result of shock and disbelief. Neighbors were the ones who resuscitated me. What puzzled me was that the man she claimed was her biological father was a relative and an old friend of mine. My aunt is one of his father’s two wives.
