Ghanaian artist Kofi Kinaata has claimed that because he lacks the finances to market his music throughout the world, he works harder on his lyrics so that the songs can rise to the top.
He told Kwadwo Sheldon on the “Convo With The Head” segment that the strength in his lyrics is the key to his mind-blowing success in the music industry because he lacks the means to start promotional activities as an independent singer.
He added that he records his songs so that people will immediately enjoy them without him having to tip them off or hire a DJ to play the tunes for him.
“When I realized that I cannot embark on promotional plans with money like my colleagues, we decided that I make the song a better one to the extent that someone will play the song without me necessarily tipping him or her off,” he said.
Speaking about his struggles as an independent musician, Kofi Kinaata claimed that he has understood that Ghanaians love him and his music so much that anyone who says anything negative about him would face backlash from his followers, even though he doesn’t know any of them.
He did, however, declare that he would only sign with a record company if the contract was advantageous and easy for him.
