“I don’t need the money, i can extend my contract for just 1 cedi”- Sulley Muntari
Sulley Muntari, a Ghanaian football legend, has stated that in order to stay at Hearts of Oak after his current contract expires, he is willing to take the absolute minimum.
The 37-year-old signed a short-term contract with the Phobians to play for them during the second transfer window.
Muntari has established himself as a valuable member of the team, having appeared in five games this season and contributed one goal and two assists.
Togbe Afede XIV, the club’s Board Chairman and key stakeholder, paid the players a surprise visit at the training grounds on Monday after their triumph over Asante Kotoko in the 2022 President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend.
During a discussion with the players, a topic was raised regarding how much Muntari would charge the squad and what should be done to assure his continuing stay at the club.
“I’ll just charge the club one Ghanaian cedis,” said the Champions League champion and the English FA Cup.
Muntari scored his first goal for the Academy Boys against WAFA in a matchday match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, as the Academy Boys defeated WAFA 2-1. Muntari scored his first goal for the club.
Muntari will try to keep up his good run as the team heads to Aduana Stars for the matchday 20 games on Sunday.
