A 19-year-old girl identified as Abena Florence, has described how she began “prostitution” at the age of 14 in a live interview with SVTV Africa,.
According to Abena Florence, her father failed to care for her after her mother died when she was young. Her father did not take her to school and did not assist her in learning a job.
As a result, she spent several years living with her grandmother. She had a female friend who lived in Accra but came to visit her in Kumasi while she was living with her grandmother.
Her friend told her that because she has nothing to rely on, she could come and live with her in Accra and start working.
Abena claims that she then decided to tell her grandmother that she wanted to relocate to Accra, so she came with a friend.
She then inquired about her friend’s job, and she informed her that she’makes out’ with men for a living, so she should work with her.
Abena says she didn’t like the idea at first, but after seeing how much she was suffering, she decided to do the same job as her friend.
According to the 19-year-old, she moved to Accra at the age of 14 only to discover that she would be “making out’ with men for a living.
Her family is unaware of her profession in Accra. Abena also claims that it is her intention to get a better job and leave her current indecent job.
She also claims to charge 700 cedis per ’round’ of raw’sex’ because she needs money to buy drugs.
