Good news: the first batch of Ghanaian students evacuated from Ukraine have arrived safely in Romania.
According to 3news.com, the first group of Ghanaian students stranded in Ukraine has been successfully evacuated to Romania.
The students in Chernivtsi were evacuated as part of agreements made by Ghana’s Mission in Berne, Switzerland, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Ministry admitted on Friday night that due to the difficulty in airlifting Ghanaian students due to a Ukrainian airspace shutdown, arrangements were made for the students to be evacuated by land via Moldova, Belarus, Slovakia, and Hungary.
Those in Romania will be cared for by the Romanian government, according to the Foreign Ministry’s arrangements.
Another group is on its way to Hungary, and a bus will be available on Monday to transport the remaining refugees to Poland, which has a clogged border.
We have confirmed very reliably that Ghanaian Students who were in the City of Chernivtsi-Ukraine have arrived safely in Romania 🇷🇴 and are being catered for by the government of Romania as per arrangements made by the @GhanaMFA . Train to Hungary safely on the move as well🙏🏻.
