“Getting married to just one person is abnormal.”- Wanlov says

A controversial statement made by Ghanaian rapper Wanlov the Kubolor that getting married to just one person is not normal has generated debate.

The eccentric musician said so in a recent interview with Doreen Abanema Abayaa of Ghanaweb. He has fathered ten children with several women.

Wanlov revealed his ignorance of the idea of marriage, particularly as it is endorsed by religion.

He asserted that he will never accept the idea that being eternally tied to one person is normal or reasonable.

The musician also disclosed that he wed an American woman 17 years ago just to legalize his immigration to the nation.

He stated that the marriage was only for legal purposes and that he never made a Green Card application.

“I am actually already married. I got married for Green Card in America in 2006 but I never applied.

I just left America and came and so I am still illegally married in America. It was just about papers. I don’t think I will dedicate my life to one person and be like in a marriage. I can’t, it doesn’t feel normal to me,” Wanlov said.

He claimed that raising children is a greater responsibility than maintaining a marriage, and as a result, he devotes more time to the former.

He values having a child more than getting married because he sees marriage as an obligation between two people that must be upheld.

Ghanaians’ reactions to Wanlov’s statement have been divided, with some siding with him while others disagreeing.  He has been criticized for encouraging immorality and disregard for cultural values.

Wanlov is renowned for his unorthodox way of living and outlandish opinions on a range of subjects.
