Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has petitioned to have the name Greater Accra reverted to its original form.
The ruler of Ga, who also serves as President of the Ga Traditional Council, has asked for the removal of the term “Greater Accra Region” in its entirety.
Nii Tackie (Nii Tackie) For the sake of representing the indigenous people, Teiko Tsuru wants the territory to be known as the Ga-Dangme Region.
The Ga Mantse feel that changing the name of the region from Greater Accra Region to Ga-Dangme will aid in the preservation of the culture and identity of the Ga-Dangme.
