Former Black Stars players throw Big support for the team
Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan wants Ghanaians to have complete faith in Coach Otto Addo and his team ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
Like him, former Black Stars players Fatau Dauda, Sulley Muntari, and Agyemang Badu are calling for support for the current team, particularly those who have switched nationalities to wear the Ghana national team jersey.
“The team can only achieve their target except they get the backing of Ghanaians and so it’s important we all come together and put our shoulders to the wheels” said Asamoah Gyan.
The excitement surrounding the Black Stars as they prepare for their fourth World Cup is incredible. For the first time, five Ghanaian players born abroad have agreed to play for the Black Stars: Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Stephen Ambrosius, Rashford Yeboah, and Patrick Pfeffer.
Kevin Prince Boateng switched nationalities from Germany to join the Black Stars team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He had an outstanding tournament and scored one goal.
Ghanaians expect the newly arrived players, along with Salisu Mohammed, to replicate and even exceed the great impact of Kevin Prince Boateng.
Fatau Dauda, who was in goal against Portugal during the 2014 World Cup, believes Inaki and his teammates will succeed if they receive the necessary support. He believes the Black Stars have a good chance of progressing in the tournament.
