Father of suspected armed robber hands him over to Police
In the Ashanti Region, the father of a suspected armed robber has brought his son to the police for alleged robbery.
The suspect is one of seven armed robbers who were apprehended after committing a highway robbery in the Ashanti Region.
According to police, some passengers traveling on the Nkawie-Bordie route were assaulted and robbed by suspected armed bandits.
Chief Superintendent Jude Cobbinah, the Nkawie Divisional Police Commander, said police got a distress call from the passengers, but when they arrived at the scene, the thieves had taken three cars and a motor rider who was a Forestry Personnel.
One of the thieves who attempted to board a bus with his pistol was spotted, according to him, and he swiftly dropped the single-barrel pistol and ran into the bush.
He said the police had detained seven people, six of them were from Awhiriwa, a nearby hamlet where the crime occurred.
According to Chief Superintendent Jude Cobbinah, 15 cellphones were discovered during a search of two of the suspects’ rooms, and the weapon that was dropped is now in police hands.
The suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday, he added.
