In a video posted online, the parents of late player Christian Atsu’s bride, Marie-Clarie Rupio, can be seen dancing the Adowa at the footballer’s family home.
Last Friday, Christian Atsu was laid to rest following a state-sponsored funeral service at the State House’s forecourt, which was attended by numerous football enthusiasts and fans from all over the world.
On that particular day, Atsu’s widow was so depressed that she was unable to read her testimony for her deceased husband.
Many people became emotional at that point and wished for a miracle to happen so she would at least smile and have the courage to go on.
The mourners who had come at the home for the final funeral ceremonies were entertained by an adowa ensemble while the family held a sitting in their family home.
Along the way, the dancers invited Christian Atsu’s sister-in-law to join them on the dance floor as they danced adowa, which made the grieving around them laugh out.
Another son of Christian Atsu was also allowed to dance, and he demonstrated his skills while his sad mother began to chuckle.
