Farmers day Wahala: top farmer in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly awarded with a bicycle and a sprayer.
Today is Farmer’s Day, a day dedicated to commemorating and honouring Ghana’s farmers and local fishermen for their dedication to ensuring the country’s food security.
Every year on the first Friday of December, Ghana declares a public holiday to honor fishermen and farmers.
Well, the prize given to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s overall best farmer has made its way onto the internet and has sparked tremendous emotions.
The overall best farmer received a bicycle, sprayer, and other various gifts, demonstrating that the country’s officials are simply following tradition and not truly appreciating farmers.
The man who is believed to have won the overall best farmer for Accra Metropolitan owns a poultry farm and came to the ceremony at St. Theresa’s School with his wife and children only to receive a bicycle.
