Ejura protest: 16-year-old boy gets his leg amputated after being hit by stray bullet – Photos
A 16-year-old kid was hit by a stray bullet during the Tuesday, June 29, 2021, riots in Ejura, Ashanti Region, and his right leg was amputated.
Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the Ashanti region had to amputate the limb of Awal Misbawu, who was first referred to St. John of God Hospital at Duayaw-Nkwanta, according to a report filed by Citnewsroom. The deceased was one of four persons who were unlucky enough to be shot during the turmoil in Ejura on that tragic day.
Two individuals were killed when the military, which had been dispatched to bring order to the region, opened fire on the protestors.
The protests and turmoil in Ejura began after one of the city’s inhabitants, Ibrahim Muhammed, also known as Kaaka, was killed instantaneously by unknown assailants.
On Monday, June 28, 2021, at Ejura in the Sekyedumase District of the area, an event happened. He was slain, according to different social media accounts, for being very public about his social activity and criticism of the sitting administration on his Facebook page.
Prior to the incident, the deceased social activist had received threats because of his activities, according to his devastated relatives.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has issued a decree calling for a public investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Ejura killing event on Tuesday, June 29, in which four people were seriously hurt.
Following the president’s direction, the Interior Ministry formed a three-member team to examine the shooting of two people at Ejura in the Ashanti Region on July 1.
