EarthQuake Nicaragua 2022; Details Below;

A massive 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit off Nicaragua’s Pacific coast on Thursday, near a popular holiday destination around a fishing community, with no immediate indications of damage.

The epicenter of the quake occurred at sea, 58 kilometers (36 miles) from Masachapa, a town about an hour’s drive southwest of Managua, where severe shaking was also observed, according to the US Geological Survey.

According to the US tsunami warning system, no tsunami warning was issued as a result of the earthquake. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 25.3 kilometers (15.72 miles).

The quake, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), had magnitude 6.9 and occurred closer to the surface.

A hurricane with gusts of up to 175 kilometers per hour, wreaking havoc on its Caribbean shore at the same time that the 7.0 quake struck off its other coast in the Pacific Ocean.
