Kwame A-Plus has made significant claims concerning recent daylight thefts in Accra. He finds it odd that these robberies occurred in Accra just days after the President named Dr George Akuffo Dampare as the Ghana Police Service’s Inspector-General.
Kwame A-Plus claimed the crimes were the result of a group of persons, including police officers, who opposed Dr Dampare’s appointment by the President. He added that robberies in Accra, especially in recent instances, never occurred in broad daylight.
The goal of Dr Dampare’s adversaries is to blame him for incompetence in protecting people, hence the deadly robbery attacks in the capital. Kwame A-Plus expressed his joy at President Akufo Addo’s announcement that Dr. Dampare’s nomination would be confirmed soon in a Facebook video.
“These latest daylight robberies are not random. Those who believed they had to be appointed may be responsible. It’s all a ruse to make Dampare look incompetent. He is hunted. “They are simply sponsored,” he added.
Despite this strong defense, the controversial social activist has asked the Police Administration to limit the mounting of police barriers on highways, particularly the Accra-Cape Coast highway. He said these roadblocks annoy travelers and must be removed.
He thinks the barriers are outdated, even if they are meant to deter robbery and other highway crimes.
A civilized country would not have police barriers every kilometer. It’s useless. A few random checks are fine. But the police barriers on the Accra-Cape Coast highway are aggravating. So will you put barriers up at every robbery site in Ghana if it leads to Kumasi?
He asked IGP Dampare to reconsider the installation of barriers to reduce traffic on the highways.
