Obaapa Christy, a Ghanaian gospel music singer, has revealed that Daddy Lumba has threatened to beat her.
The prolific singer’s threat, according to Obaapa, was his way of showing her his love. She claims that Daddy Lumba advised her to remain silent about her failed marriage in order to avoid drawing the attention of her detractors.
She recounted her experience on Atinka FM’s Drive Time show, recounting how Daddy Lumba paid her a surprise visit at a beauty salon in ‘Sofoline,’ a Kumasi suburb in the Ashanti Region.
According to Obaapa Christy, she was at a beauty salon getting her hair braided when she received a call that someone was looking for her, only to discover that it was the legendary songwriter. She recalls how Daddy Lumba, who had heard about her, stormed the salon to express his undying love and respect for her exceptional talent and creativity.
According to reports, she stated that Daddy Lumba threatened to beat her if she ever responded to conversations about her “unsuccessful marriage.”
According to her, this was one of the happiest days of her life because Daddy Lumba also gave her some advice that she will never forget. Daddy Lumba, she claims, has been one of the strongest pillars in her life and career as a musician since then, encouraging and advising her on sensitive issues.
