“Country With No Plan B”: Reactions as Photo of Jubilee House in Darkness after Nationwide Dumsor Goes Viral
On Thursday, September 8, 2023, a snapshot of Ghana’s seat of government, Jubilee House, in complete darkness, surfaced on social media.
It is unknown when the shot was taken, but it became popular online following a widespread blackout in Ghana.
Around 7:00 p.m., parts of the country went dark for more than two hours, leaving many people in the dark.
According to GridCo, the managers of the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS), a system disturbance was what caused the blackout.
Following the outage and restoration of power, many Ghanaians resorted to social media to express their feelings.
Among the numerous posts about the blackout were images of the Jubilee House in utter darkness.
The blackout also had an impact on the president’s office, according to the text that accompanied the photographs.
