A man named Isaac Odoom was recently sentenced to 12 months in jail for sleeping in an abandoned house that belonged to a former soccer player named John Paintsil.
During an interview with Crime Check TV GH, the man disclosed that he was in the charcoal-producing and sales business. On the day in question, he had gone to Besease for his business and it got late, so a friend offered him a place to spend the night. He entered the abandoned house through a window with his friend and did not realize it belonged to Paintsil until the next day.
“I live in Ajumako and I went to Besease to work on charcoal. Usually, I sleep at the production site at night but that day, someone suggested we sleep in a house. I thought the person had a place since I was new in the area. When we got to the house, we went through the window. When I asked him why he said he had an issue with his mother and didn’t want her to see him. It was in the morning he told me the house belonged to John Paintsil,” Odoom narrated.
When Ibrahim Kwarteng contacted John Paintsil to confirm the man’s claims, Paintsil expressed his displeasure over the man’s release. He believed that people should serve their full jail sentence for the crimes they have committed. In a heated argument with Kwarteng, Paintsil insinuated that Kwarteng’s colleague, Atsu, died as a result of releasing criminals from jail without allowing them to serve their full sentence. Paintsil believed that the curses from the victims of the jailed people caused Atsu’s untimely death.
