A terrible thing happened in Columbus recently. A man was killed and a woman was badly hurt. The police say it was because of domestic violence.
This news has shocked the neighbors, including Michael Montgomery, who lived next door. Montgomery said that the couple had always been nice and he never saw any problems before.
The police got a call about a fight at around 10:36 p.m. When they were on their way to the house, they heard gunshots. Montgomery said that the couple’s three sons came to his house and told him that their parents were fighting.
They heard two gunshots and then ran away to get help. The father wouldn’t let them back in the house, so they went to Montgomery’s house for help.
The couple had lived in the neighborhood for almost ten years and had four children. Montgomery said that they were very involved in the Ghana community in Columbus.
The police found out that the man, whose name was Amoaka, shot the woman and then shot himself. The woman was hurt very badly, so the Columbus Police Homicide Unit is in charge of the case.
This is not the first time something like this has happened in Columbus. There have been more domestic violence-related deaths this year. The mayor, Andrew Ginther, says that people need to talk about this issue more. He wants people to know that there are resources available to help people who are in violent situations.
Montgomery is very sad about what happened. He wishes he could have done something to stop it. He says that there were no signs that something like this would happen.
