“Cats in UK are living better than humans in Ghana” – Oliver Barker
One of the victims’ legal counsel, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, criticized the Ghanaian government’s compensation to the victims and their families.
Military officers murdered two protesters in Ejura, Ashanti Region, in 2021.
A government investigation commission recommended that the victims and their families each receive $250,000 in compensation.
In a Facebook post, #FixTheCountry coordinator Oliver Barker says the compensation demonstrates Ghana’s value of human life.
He cited a recent case in the United Kingdom in which French player Kurt Zouma was fined £250,000 after a video of him kicking his animals went viral.
According to Barker-Vormawor, a cat in the UK is preferable to a person in Ghana.
“250,000 for each of the Ejura victims, a £250,000 fine, and the cancelation of the deal because Zouma kicked a cat.” In France, he faces incarceration.
He said on Facebook that, it’s better to be a cat in the UK than a human in Ghana.
