Bryce Christopher Young (born July 25, 2001) is a former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback. He holds the Alabama quarterback record for most passing yards in a single game (559), and he won the Heisman Trophy in 2021.

Young was born in Philadelphia on July 25, 2001. [2] Later, he moved to Pasadena, California, where he spent the majority of his adolescence.

Young went to Cathedral High School in Los Angeles before transferring to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana for his final two years of high school football. He was named the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year and the Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior after throwing for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns. In addition, he was named the USA Today High School Offensive Player of the Year. He passed for 13,520 yards and 152 touchdowns in high school and was a five-star recruit ranked as the nation’s top quarterback prospect and second overall recruit. Young originally committed to play football at the University of Southern California (USC), but later decommitted and chose to play for Nick Saban at the University of Alabama.

Throughout the 2020 season, Young served as the backup quarterback to junior quarterback Mac Jones during his freshman year at Alabama. Young made his collegiate debut against Missouri on September 26, 2020, in the late third quarter at Faurot Field. Young went 5-of-8 for 54 yards passing and two yards rushing on four attempts that night. Young appeared in nine games in 2020, finishing with 156 yards passing and one touchdown. He also took a knee with about 15 seconds left to seal Alabama’s 52-24 victory over Ohio State in the 2021 CFP National Championship.

They married on July 29, 1995, making their marriage more than 26 years old. Bryce is thought to be an only child.

Craig and Julie Young have encouraged their son to follow his dreams. His parents, in fact, are frequently spotted at his football games and have become celebrities among Alabama fans.

The trio have also interviewed together in the past. “I think a lot of people understand the football player and know that part,” said Craig Young.

“No one knows him like I do,” his mother Julie explained. “We know what he’s capable of and what he’s used to dealing with pressure.”
