Brandi Carlile wiki (Who is Brandi Carlile?)

Brandi Carlile

Brandi Carlile is a multi-genre American singer-songwriter and producer. Carlile, who was born in the small community of Ravensdale, Washington, southeast of Seattle, dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music, teaching herself piano and guitar. Brandi Carlile’s big label first album, released in 2005, was met with positive reviews but modest economic success.

Brandi Carlile songs

Carlile began her career performing in Seattle clubs alongside Tim and Phil Hanseroth, the twin brothers. Columbia Records first signed Carlile in 2004 based on the home recordings she had been making regularly.

She left her home in Seattle and joined the Hanseroth brothers shortly after the publication of the record. By the end of 2006, Carlile had embarked on many headlining tours and shared the stage with a range of performers, including Ray LaMontagne, the Fray, Chris Isaak, Tori Amos, and Shawn Colvin.

Nonetheless, her 2007 hit “The Story” from the album titled “Brandi Carlile” propelled her to more popularity. The RIAA granted “The Story” Gold certification in 2017 for selling 500,000 copies. She received six nominations at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year nominations.

Below are some of her best songs;

10. “Every Time I Forgive You”

The title of Carlile’s 2018 studio album is derived from the first track, a touching meditation on forgiveness, thankfulness, and what it means to still care for someone from the past. Harmony swells and soft acoustic guitar riffs cushion heartrending words and accentuate the effect of Carlile’s thoughtful benevolence.

9. “Josephine”

The simple folk tune “Josephine” reveals Carlile’s admiration for Dolly Parton. The painful song highlights moving a cappella vocal harmonies, modest acoustic guitar, and lyrics reminiscing about a past romance that continues to haunt.

8. “Heart’s Content”

This masterpiece showcases Carlile’s shrill vocals. The fervor in her voice is understandable, given that “Dreams” is a reflection on the gap between what you desire and what you have.

7. “The Eye”

Tim Hanseroth wrote the lyrics to “The Eye”. Once,  Brandi said, “This is probably my all-time favorite song.” She chooses to sing the song to show that she, Tim, and Phil Hanseroth are all just as much a part of their band as she is.

6. “Dreams”

Brandi Carlile put the song “Dreams” on her third studio album, “Give Up the Ghost,” which came out on October 6, 2009. The song was the first single from the album. It came out on August 18, 2009.

5. “Cannonball”

The song Cannonball is about forgetting an ex-lover. The song was initially published in 2007 with backup vocals by the Indigo Girls. The song’s cover version was released in 2017.

4. “Closer to You”

The centerpiece of Carlile’s debut album is also one of her earliest songs that foreshadowed her later shift away from singer-songwriter-style folk rock and into Americana. “Closer to You” is a song about the road and the desire it inspires, and its shuffling tempo makes it even more effective as a trip song.

3. “Heart Content”

“Heart’s Content” is a lighthearted ballad about mismatched expectations in relationships and how even the best-laid intentions may fail.

2. “The Joke”

“The Joke” has become the best song in largely because of Carlile’s strong vocals. Even though “The Joke” didn’t win the prestigious Grammys for Record of the Year or Song of the Year, it did win two awards for Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance.

1. “The Story”

“The Story” was Carlile’s first big hit, reaching the top five of the AAA charts, and it is still one of her most well-known songs. The song, which was written by Phil Hanseroth, is about a relationship that is “perfectly imperfect,” which Carlile expresses perfectly with her rough, emotional voice.
