There is never a bad time to cry or a good time to laugh. Despite all of the pain people go through, there are times when they make fun of themselves.
Apiatse residents in the Prestea Huni Valley municipality of the Western Region have been in pain in recent days.
All of their belongings vanished in the blink of an eye due to an explosion in the neighborhood. The majority of them have nothing to cling to or call their own.
Akosua Mary, as she is fondly known, is an illegal miner who has been a resident of the community for many years.
The twenty-nine-year-old lady visits the mining site on occasion to dig for gold. She has been able to make some money through the sale of gold over the years.
She has also converted her room into a mini-bank where she keeps some of her money. She had one pound of gold and GHC 1,500 in her possession.
After the explosion, everything came down and since she was out of town, she decided to return and begin searching.
After a few days, she began her search, her main goal being to recover her gold and GHC 1,500. She returned to the location where her house was and spent many hours searching, but she was unable to find any. Her money and gold had vanished.
She couldn’t cry, and she couldn’t tell anyone about her missing gold and money. A chilled beer was her only solace, Akosua. With the beer in her hand, Mary began moving around the shattered community. She kept drinking the beer to distract herself from her worries.
The terrified lady stated that she was drinking the beer to get rid of all her worries because the pain was becoming unbearable. But she’ll have to deal with it because neither her gold nor her money was found.
The Apiatse community as a whole has been declared a security zone. Over 400 residents of the community have been displaced as a result of an explosion that has been described as historic.
The national disaster management organization has now extended the rescue mission in response to residents’ concerns about missing relatives.
The majority of the residents are now resting on the grounds of a church in Bogoso while efforts are made to build a new community for them.
