Bishop Oyedepo Explains why he collected back the money he gave to a beggar
Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church International, alias Winners’ Chapel, has explained why he does not give money to roadside beggars.
According to the preacher, it is preferable to focus on the impoverished individuals in the church before moving outside to assist non-church members. He mentioned Galatians chapter 6:10 of the Bible, which states that Christians are to do kind to all people, especially those who share their religious convictions.
“Today, there are many people on the side of the road begging for charity,” he continues, “but God commands that we do good to all men, especially those in the household of faith.”
“Giving to the needy begins with those who are already members of the faith family. The hungry in the church, not the malams on the highway, is the best grand to see in terms of contributing to the needy.”
He went on to say that giving love to one’s church members is the same as demonstrating love to God, and that the early church prayed for nonbelievers. “The only church only prays for the people who live on the side of the road; they don’t give them anything. They solely give to the church’s needy.”
“You have done good to me if you do good to one of my brethren,” Oyedepo remarked. He went on to say, “The Needy in the Body of Christ is the best grand for sawing seeds to the poor.”
