A clever young Ghanaian woman who recently made news with her encouraging tale of how she achieved first class despite juggling her job as a vender with education has opened up about her future plans.
Jivana Danquah said in an interview that the idea to offer iced kenkey and roselle juice, also known as sobolo, occurred during the Covid-19 shutdown.
She explained that starting the work was also a means for her to fund her undergraduate studies.
“I was helping my mum since it became a huge burden to finance my schooling and feed us as well. The business provided a great funding source for my university education”
She has been appointed as a teaching assistant at the university’s Geography Department, where she is completing her national service.
She claims her new position will have no impact on her company, but she acknowledges she will need to find new and creative methods to market her goods in the future.
“My business still holds even through NSS. Though I am serving as a teaching assistant at the Geography department, I will continue selling,” she said.
The young woman finished by advising students who are experiencing money problems not to give up, but rather to persevere with confidence and purpose.
“My advice to students facing challenges is that, change is only possible through effort. Don’t stop trying if you want to change your situation. Work hard for your future freedom,” she added.
