A beautiful lady who is now a lawyer has narrated the hardship she had to go through with her stepmother before she got to where she is today.

“My mother abandoned me when I was seven months old, along with my father and stepmother. My stepmother was a nasty person. She subjected me to a variety of mistreatments. I used to go days without eating. She would deprive me of food to the point that I would die. I was so hungry one day that I had to eat our dog’s leftover food.
Our next-door neighbor’s kid discovered me eating the dog’s leftover food (eba and egusi), and he notified his mother, who invited me to her house later that evening and inquired whether what her son claimed was true.
I begged her not to tell my stepmother because she would kill me if she found out I ate the dog’s leftovers instead of tossing them away.
The woman sobbed and vowed to feed me every day without informing my stepmother, a promise she kept until we left the compound.
My stepmother flogged me viciously until I fainted at times, as if starving me wasn’t enough punishment.
She would also rub pepper on my vagina, eyes, armpits, and neck, tie me up, and leave me for days without food on one of the toilets.
Despite these hardships, I excelled academically and was liked and appreciated by God and others.
I realized that the only way out was to succeed academically. Therefore, I never made light of schooling. So, while I have every right to be enraged, bitter, envious, arrogant, depressed, pessimistic, and toxic, I decided not to be.
I made it through school and went on to have a top-notch career as a lawyer.
