Mystique Evolving, a Nigerian woman born with male and female $3x organs, has married and is overjoyed to have met someone with whom she can spend the rest of her life.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Mystique stated that many people are unaware that intersex persons exist, believing that God created only male and female genders.
Mystique became quite popular and received a lot of attention after her interview with BBC News Pidgin in 2019, in which she spoke about her life and hardships as a trans woman in Nigeria.
In the conversation, she detailed how her own parents were the catalyst for the various oppressions she would encounter later in life, which forced her to live in solitude for nearly a decade.
She has now married and reconnected with her family, who have finally embraced her for who she is. The young woman expressed her joy at the start of a new chapter in her life.
Mystique stated, “It was a great and challenging experience once I formally declared to the world that I am an intersex person.”
Many individuals contacted me after the interview, and while some encouraged me, many claimed they didn’t believe we (intersex) existed in Nigeria.
Some people wanted to see for themselves. People began proposing to each other, which startled me.”
