In a statement issued by the Registrar, Dr Koryoe Anim-Wright, the University of Professional Studies, Accra, replied to the viral video of a student caning another pupil.
On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, social media, notably Twitter, was swamped with recordings showing a UPSA student showering lashes on much younger students.
Rumors circulated with the video that the younger girl had accused the elder of sleeping with instructors in order to improve her marks.
The culprit has been identified, and it has been proven that she is not a normal student, according to a UPSA statement on the school’s official website.
However, the school said that efforts will be taken to ensure she is brought to justice and that sanity is maintained at the institution.
“Our preliminary investigation has revealed that the culprit is in a special non-tertiary programme in preparation for an external professional examination. Upon completion of the investigation, all responsible persons will face the full rigor of sanctions,” portions of the statement read.
