Apiate-Bogoso explosion: “I wish i was also k!lled by the explosion, I lost my son and 10 bedroom house”- Man cries

The explosion at Apiate last Thursday left both physical and mental scars on many people in the country, notably those who were victims of the catastrophe.

One resident, Joseph Appiah, says he is saddened by the scale of the devastation inflicted by the explosion.

Justice Appiah, a 21-year-old man, was among those killed, according to the 60-year-old father.

He observed that his son had approached the flaming truck to snap some shots when the explosion occurred, instantly killing him.

Mr Appiah’s young son was killed in the accident, which also destroyed his recently built 10-bedroom mansion and a bar he had owned for decades.

This incident has taken its toll on him, and he wishes the blast had killed him as well.

“Three days before the event, glaziers had arrived to install all of the 10-bedroom house’s windows and doors.” I’ve paid a lot of money just for this to happen.

“It’s gut-wrenching. And I’ve already told folks that I’d rather die than lose all of this,” he told reporters.

The tragic event occurred when an explosive-laden truck collided with a motorcycle, resulting in a huge explosion that devastated the entire community.

14 people have been confirmed killed, with many more injured.

Hundreds of people in the neighborhood have also been relocated. One of them is Mr Appiah.

He is currently reliant on government and philanthropic assistance to find a place to sleep at night.

Meanwhile, at a meeting of the Municipal Security Council on Monday, a committee was formed to oversee all gifts and the relocation of displaced people to a new shelter.
