In anger, angry villagers lynched six accused bandits from a police station in Tangaza town, Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

Last week, the bandits reportedly refused ransom offers to liberate the kidnapped victims. Sources said the bandits killed the detainees as revenge for the ongoing military attacks on their stronghold.
Following the murders, local vigilantes armed with cutlasses and native rifles invaded the forest, killing two bandits and arresting four more.
Enraged by the murder of the two kidnapped people, locals rescued the jailed suspects, lynched them, and burned their remains.
“Tangaza’s residents are serious. “People are tired and no longer afraid,” said Basharu Altine, a resident.
Residents were enraged by the criminals’ bravado, according to Aliyu Madi.
He said the bandits kidnapped two residents and later killed them.
“After our vigilantes and security agents tried to save some of the kidnapped, the bandits warned the community that the two residents with them would be slain if we offered them anything. “And they killed the two,” he said.
Mr. Madi said a squad of vigilantes and cops were sent into the forest to murder the criminals. They killed two and captured four more.
Residents followed the team to the divisional police station and demanded the criminals be murdered in front of them, he added.
“The enraged youngsters threatened to burn down the police station if the officers did not shoot the criminals in their presence. The teenagers were adamant, which made the DPO’s job difficult. They drove the outlaws out of town, slaughtered and burned them “he said.
