All the Hospital bills of people who were brutalities by the military are on me – Ashaiman MP reveals

Mr. Ernest Norgbe, Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, has said that the payment of healthcare costs for locals who underwent military brutalities in Ashaiman has now become a burden on him.

Troops alleged to have arrived from Michel and Burma Camp invaded Taifa on March 7, 2023, for killing one soldier and brutalizing others. 184 inhabitants were then seized and sent to a Burma camp, where they were brutalized further.

These inhabitants were freed when the police service’s intelligence-driven investigation led to the arrest of the genuine culprits who were hiding in Ashaiman.

Meanwhile, the Circuit Court in Ashaiman has remanded all six accused suspects detained in connection with the assassination of a 21-year-old soldier, Imoro Sherif, on March 4, 2023, in Ashaiman.

The MP revealed on Starr Today with Emmanuel Agyabeng that he has been paying medical bills, purchasing medications, and enlisting the services of psychiatrists, among other things, for victims of military brutalities.

“It has become a debt on me as the MP. I had a call from one at the hospital where I have to send money to be able to buy medicines. Some of them are still undergoing some kind of trauma, so I’m trying to organize a psychologist which I have spoken to, to talk to them. We are collating data to see whether we can arrange for some sort of compensation for all of them,” Mr. Norgbe stated.

He also urged the administration to try to avoid such military incursions that are wreaking damage on mankind.

“My intention is to make sure that we stop this kind of invasion, a dangerous crime on humanity. Especially when the military will invade a community, brutalize people etc. I am of the view that it should be a thing of the past,” the lawmaker stated.
