Reverend Father Chinenye Oluoma, a well-known Catholic priest in Nigeria, has expressed his deep condemnation of young Nigerians engaged in ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ internet scam.
In his sermon to his congregation, Fr. Oluoma highlighted his concern about the negative consequences of such immoral behavior for both offenders and victims.
The sermon, which was captured on video and uploaded on his official Facebook page, struck a chord with many internet users.
Fr. Oluoma began by bemoaning the sad way in which ‘Yahoo boys’ deceive innocent people and take advantage of their hard-earned money.
He stated that people who engage in such actions may not see great effects if they continue on this route.
He also questioned the arrogance of those who participate in fraudulent operations but grow enraged when confronted with criticism from ministers and the wider population.
In his own words;
“When you pursue wealth at the expense of others, you are trashing people in order to obtain a treasure that will be a waste of your life.”
“If you must commit fraud, target corrupt politicians,” says a Roman father to ‘Game Boys.’ “I don’t understand why people who steal and dupe others get angry when ministers condemn it.” Yahoo denotes a group of people that will just lock themselves in a house, use their computers to find someone who is susceptible, and defraud the person of everything he has worked for.
“After 30 to 40 years of labor, the person becomes destitute.” You steal everything the individual owns while the person suffers from depression, high blood pressure, and a heart attack, and you feel at ease.
“Do you think it’s normal that some musicians sing to support that kind of lifestyle?” If Yahoo means duping people, cheating them of their money, leaving them penniless, and having them die of a heart attack, how do you want it to end? Some even regard it as a real hustle.
“How can stealing be considered a legitimate hustle?” It can’t end well if you’re that type of person. If you’re into it, please don’t marry, because if you do and have children, your children will bear the repercussions.
“At the very least, if you want to be a Yahoo, target politicians who steal money.” However, you will not attack such people; rather, you will target those who worked honestly. At the very least, target the terrible politicians so that you and God can discuss it on the last day.”
