According to Joynews, a top Ghanaian athlete (name withheld) fled camp after being assigned to run for Ghana in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in the United Kingdom.
According to reports, the athlete (name withheld) had already packed his belongings and was preparing to leave the United Kingdom. Following that, an official report was filed with the United Kingdom Police.
Data shared by Commonwealth Games organizers showed 17 athletes fleeing the camp. Out of the 17, 5 are reportedly Sri Lankan citizens, with Ghanaians accounting for only one.
The United Kingdom Police have indicated that they will do everything possible to find those who have escaped and deport them as soon as possible.
When the news broke, many Ghanaians expressed their displeasure with the Ghanaian athlete who had embarrassed us in front of the rest of the world.
