Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has mourned the death of former President Jerry Rawlings hours after his passing on Thursday, November 12, 2020.
The two have been political rivals for a long time and it got people thinking there were real-time enemies which is not the case.
The late JJ Rawlings handed over the presidential seat to John Agyekum in 2001 after serving the country for about two decades.
On November 12, Ghana and the world were hit with the sad news of Rawlings’ death, and ever since, many people have reacted as they pour out their condolences.
Kufuor, while expressing sadness about the demise of Mr. Rawlings, wrote “Rest in Peace, Jerry John Rawling,” on Twitter hours after the sad incident.
Meanwhile, a week of national mourning has been declared in Ghana for the ex-military official, who oversaw the transition to multiparty elections in what is now one of Africa’s most stable democracies.
