Faruk Umar Faruk is 90 years old and has married a 20-year-old bride after recently divorcing with three old wives.
The 90-year-old man is said to be the king of Daura, a town in Kano State, Nigeria.
Numerous internet users expressed surprise, claiming the girl married the 90-year-old king just for financial gain.
According to DAILY NIGERIAN, the king offered the bride a dowry of N1 million naira. The bride is Aisha Iro Maikano, the daughter of Fagacin Katsina.
Sources close to the royal family made it known to news outlets that the king recently divorced all three of his wives in order to choose a new quartet of spouses. “The plan was that the king wanted to marry at least three new wives at a go,” said a family source.
Their marriage has however sparked many reactions on social media with many condemning Aisha Maikano for being “materialistic” for accepting to marry someone who qualifies as her “great grandfather”.
Some netizens also chose to call the marriage “child abuse” because of the huge age difference despite the fact that the bride looks happy that ever as she ventures into the new phase of her life
