Eight individuals who were in the home of musician Davido when his son Ifeanyi, who was only three years old at the time, passed away after drowning in a swimming pool have been taken into custody.
A well-known Nigerian website, instablog9ja, posted on Instagram on November 1 that David Ifanyi’s nanny, cook, and other domestic workers had been detained so they could talk to the police about his death.
The arrest was confirmed by the police to the BBC, who quoted them as saying, “Eight people were brought in for questioning and, after a thorough investigation, anyone found culpable of the child’s death would be arrested,” which was said by Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos state police command.
Recently, on October 17, Davido and his fiancée, Chioma Rwoland, celebrated their son’s third birthday with a celebration, which was followed by another party on October 23, which featured notable guests.
It has been reported that both Davido and chef Chioma, the mother of the dead, were out of the country when the tragic event took place on October 31 in their home on Banana Island.
Both Davido and Chioma have not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
