4 Suspects escape from cells with praises and worship
Four people detained on separate charges have escaped from cells in the Upper East Region.
Fawas Musah, a juvenile detention prisoner, Francis Dabang, a suspect in a defilement case, and Kwojo Dinaya, another suspect in a larceny case, were among the four convicts whose names were revealed.
According to accounts, the police officers on duty that day heard the detainees singing praise and worship songs from their cells for a few minutes before they suddenly fell silent.
After a while, the cell became excessively quiet, prompting one of the officers on duty to investigate why the location had suddenly turned silent with no sounds coming from the cell.
At that moment, she realized that the four had fled from the cells after removing a brick from the bathroom wall and using it as an escape route.
Personnel has now been despatched to assist in the hunt for the fugitives, while a one-armed guard who collapsed as a result of the incident is being treated at the Tongo District hospital.
