33-year-old single mother arrested for killing her landlord over electricity bill

Ifeoma Ossai, 33, was arrested by Ogun State Police Command for murdering her 50-year-old landlord, Monday Surulere Oladele, following a small quarrel.

According to current information, the single mother was apprehended by agents from the Command on Saturday.

The suspect was apprehended after a report was filed at the Sango Ota Divisional Police Headquarters by one Olaleye Taiwo, who stated that his brother, Monday Oladele, had a disagreement with his tenant over the payment of an electricity bill, and in the process, the said tenant grabbed the deceased’s manhood and dragged him with it.

As a result, the landlord collapsed unaware on the ground and was brought to General Hospital, Ota, where the on-duty doctor verified his death.

After the complaint, CSP Saleh Dahiru, Divisional Police Officer, Sango Ota Division, instantly led his investigators to the area, where the suspect was promptly detained and brought into custody for investigation.

During questioning, Ossai said that the dead urged her to pay the electricity bill, but she maintained that she would not pay the electricity or any other utility payment until water was immediately connected to her flat, as promised by the landlord before she packed up.

This sparked a fight between them, and the suspect seized the deceased’s manhood and pulled him with it.

The deceased then collapsed and was brought to the hospital, where he was declared dead by the attending doctor.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for postmortem investigation.

The Command’s Commissioner, CP Frank Mba, has directed that the suspect be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Murder Branch for further investigation and rigorous prosecution.
