Happiness Titi was detained by officers from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, for reportedly trafficking four teenage girls to Ghana for prostitution
The victims were abducted from Gwagwalada, Abuja, by the suspect.
Amotekun operatives are claimed to have apprehended her during a security check between the states of Ondo and Kogi.
After she was unable to provide information regarding the four girls in her custody, the 29-year-old suspect was sent to Akure, the state capital. The state Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, commented on the issue, saying that early investigations revealed that the suspect had finalised preparations to transport the girls out of Nigeria for cheap labor in Ghana.
The victims, he claims, were between the ages of 14 and 19.
“We apprehended almost 300 suspected offenders during the Easter period,” the Amotekun head added, “but we brought out some of them while investigations are proceeding on others.”
“We arrested a lady, Happiness Titi, during a joint military patrol at the boundary of Ondo and Kogi states. During the stop and search, we apprehended this lady with four of her victims on their way to Ghana.
“We found out that she deceived the victims that she was taking them to Ghana for greener pastures, but she denied taking them out for labour. She said she was taking them to Ibadan.”
However, one of the victims claimed that the suspect advised them to be ready to work in Ghana and promised to give them lucrative employment.
“It was when security operatives apprehended us that it dawn on us that the madam planned to use us for forced labour or sexual exploitation in Ghana.
“We have lost our parents and we are struggling to feed ourselves. We agreed to follow the madam when she said she would find good jobs for us in Ghana where their economy is better,” she added.
