Mukundi Malovhele, from Limpopo, created his own replica of the Italian sportscar classic, the Lamborghini Diablo, out of waste materials and salvaged car components. The Lamborghini Diablo is one of the most famous sports cars in the world. He just needs an engine to complete his mission.
Malovhele,21, says that he was never particularly gifted in mathematics or physics, but that he has always had a particular talent for designing and fabricating hand-made things.
Taking inspiration from his passion for the luxury vehicle brand Lamborghini, Malovhele fashioned his own replica of the Italian classic out of scrap materials and discarded car parts. “I’ve always loved the Lamborghini when I saw it on TV, so I decided to make one inspired by it because I can’t afford to buy it.”
According to Malovhele, who resides at Tshipise Tshasagole-Niani village in Venda, he started his project in 2017 after years of building wire cars.
Malovhele, the son of a tomato and watermelon farmer, said that the most important drawback to completing his vehicle project has been lack of financial resources.
“My father sometimes gives me some money to spend on components, but what I really need is a small engine,” he said. “I want to become a mechanic and fix cars, but I also want to make my own car model because this is what I understand. My dream is to go to a technical college that will help me work on my skills.”
Meanwhile, he assists his father with the farming of and the sale of their products to other villages, all while working on his designs
